Fish and Shell Fish Allergy Test (MHD108)
This test measures your allergic response to nine types of shellfish.
Anyone who thinks they may be allergic to shellfish. Shellfish allergies can develop at any age. For many people, allergic reactions to shellfish are very serious. Symptoms of a shellfish allergy can include:
- Difficulty swallowing
- Itching of the mouth, throat, eyes, skin or any other area
- Nasal congestion or a runny nose
- Abdominal pain
- Shortness of breath
- Anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening reaction that impairs breathing and can send the body into shock
If this test confirms you are allergic to shellfish, you may want to follow up with your primary care provider or an allergy specialist.
Total IgE along with the following specific IgE allergens:
- Blue mussel
- Cod fish
There is no preparation for this test.
