About The Test

Test Overview

A five-panel drug screen is a common type of drug test that aims to detect the presence of five specific classes of drugs in an individual’s system. These classes encompass amphetamines (including amphetamine and methamphetamine), cannabinoids (testing for THC, the active compound in marijuana), cocaine, opiates (such as heroin, morphine, and codeine), and phencyclidine (commonly known as PCP).

Test Includes

Specimen Validity Testing

Specimen validity testing (SVT) is a process used in drug testing to determine the integrity and authenticity of a urine sample provided for analysis. It is primarily employed in drug testing programs to ensure that the submitted urine specimen is valid and has not been tampered with or adulterated in any way that could affect the accuracy of drug test results.

Amphetamine

Amphetamines are a class of stimulant drugs that can affect the central nervous system.

Cannabinoids (Marijuana)

Cannabinoids are a group of compounds detected to indicate the use of cannabis or related products.

Cocaine

Cocaine, as a component in drug screening, is a potent stimulant substance tested for to identify recent use or exposure.

Opiates

Opiates, as a component in drug screening, are a class of narcotics tested for to detect the use of drugs derived from opium, such as heroin, morphine, and certain prescription painkillers

Phencyclidine (PCP or Angel Dust)

Phencyclidine is a hallucinogenic drug, commonly known as PCP or angel dust, often associated with its potent mind-altering effects.

Understanding Results

A positive result indicates the presence of the substance(s) tested for in the urine sample. A negative result indicates the absence of substance(s) tested in the urine sample. Confirmation testing is performed on all positive screening results. Confirmation testing is a secondary analysis performed on the same specimen. It identifies the actual drug or metabolite present and verifies the positive screen result. Additional charges apply for confirmation testing.
