Milk Allergy Profile (MHD103)

Product Details

This test will determine if you are allergic to milk.

Recommended For:

Anyone who thinks they may be allergic to milk. Although milk allergies frequently develop in childhood, they can develop at any age. Symptoms of a milk allergy can include:

  • Abdominal pain, cramps, nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Hives and other skin rashes
  • Itching of the mouth, throat, eyes, skin or any other area
  • Nasal congestion or a runny nose
  • Nausea
  • Shortness of breath
  • Anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening reaction that impairs breathing and can send the body into shock

Milk allergy is often confused with lactose intolerance because the symptoms are similar. However, milk allergy and lactose intolerance are two unrelated conditions. A milk allergy is an immune response to the proteins found in milk. Lactose intolerance is present when you lack the digestive enzyme to digest the sugar found in milk.

If this test confirms you are allergic to milk, you may want to follow up with your primary care provider or an allergy specialist.
