Erythropoietin is a hormone produced by the kidneys which regulate the production of red blood cells by the bone marrow. This test may be useful in determining the cause of conditions such as anemia, polycythemia or bone marrow disorders.
• Differentiating between primary Polycythemia and secondary Polycythemia.
• Determining the need for Erythropoietin replacement therapy (chronic renal failure).
• Evaluating patients on Erythropoietin replacement therapy.
