Use:
Gonorrhea is a common sexually transmitted infection (STI). This urine test screens for gonorrhea infection.
Recommended For:
Anyone who thinks they may have come in contact with this bacterium during oral, vaginal or anal sex with an infected partner.
Both men and women can get this STI. It does not always cause symptoms, but when it does it can cause a burning feeling when urinating and a white, green or yellow discharge that appears 1-14 days after the infection. In men, the testicles can become swollen and painful. In women, gonorrhea infection can cause vaginal bleeding between periods. Symptoms of a rectal infection include discharge, anal itching, soreness, bleeding and painful bowel movements.
Left untreated, gonorrhea can spread throughout the body and can be life threatening.
If this test comes back positive, you should follow up with a health care provider for appropriate antibiotics.
