This test will determine whether you are allergic to latex.
Anyone who thinks they may be allergic to latex. Mild latex allergy symptoms can include a rash after exposure to a product containing latex. Other people experience difficulty breathing. In rare cases, a severe life-threatening reaction called anaphylaxis can result from latex exposure in allergic individuals.
Latex is a milky fluid found in the rubber tree. It is used to make hundreds of products, but some of the most common ones are:
- Rubber bands
- Shoe soles
Repeated exposure to latex can make you more likely to develop an allergic reaction to it. For people who are allergic to latex, a reaction can begin within minutes of exposure.
If this test confirms you are allergic to latex, you may want to follow up with your primary care provider or an allergy specialist.
