Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (MHD800)
Use:
This panel of 14 tests gives information about the current status of your kidneys and liver, electrolytes (sodium, calcium, potassium, chlorine, phosphate) and acid/base balance, as well as levels of blood glucose and blood proteins.
Recommended For:
Anyone who wants a comprehensive picture of overall health. Abnormal results, particularly certain combinations of abnormal results, can indicate an underlying health problem. This profile is also used to monitor known conditions, such as hypertension, and to check for any kidney- or liver-related side effects from certain medications.
Results of the tests that are part of the metabolic profile are typically evaluated together to look for patterns. A single abnormal test result may mean something very different from several abnormal test results. Out-of-range results on any of the tests can be due to a variety of different reasons.
If any of your tests come back abnormal, you should follow up with a health care provider.
